Official Contacts for Records

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office is the first contact for current county-jail custody and jail-maintained booking records. Its official pages do not publish general public office hours for these services, so call before an in-person visit.

The needed office depends on the record and custody stage:

  • For a booking sheet or photograph, follow the county records guide and submit the BCSO General Record Request. Exact booking-photo copy fees are not published.
  • For current custody at the Bartholomew County Jail, call 812-379-1750, option 2. The line is not a historical arrest search.
  • For a recent arrest that may not have produced jail intake, contact the arresting police agency and then check the county jail line.
  • For release or transfer alerts, use Indiana SAVIN. It is a custody-notification service, not a photo gallery.
  • For a city incident report, contact Columbus Police, Edinburgh Police, or Hope Police according to where the event occurred.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner’s location, record, or available photo, use the Indiana Department of Correction Offender Locator.
  • For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. For immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.

A filed Bartholomew County court case can be searched in Indiana MyCase. MyCase is not the official court record, so obtain certified or authoritative documents through the Bartholomew County Clerk. A booking charge remains an accusation unless a court enters a conviction.
